Memorial Health increasing

minimum increase

Jacksonville, FL (July 1, 2009) – Memorial Hospital, Orange Park Medical Center and Specialty Hospital announced today that they have adopted a minimum wage that is 20-percent higher than the new Federal mandated rates that will take effect on July 24.

 

The new Federal minimum wage will be $7.25, with Memorial Hospital , Orange Park Medical Center and Specialty Hospital increasing to $8.70 per hour. This increase is part of the larger Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) minimum wage increase, which applies to all facilities in the United States .

This is the latest workplace improvement under HCA’s Healthy Work Environment commitments to employees.

 

James Wood, President & CEO of Memorial Hospital says this increase will assist many employees during this challenging economic time.

 

“ Memorial Hospital , Orange Park Medical Center and Specialty Hospital are implementing this change to provide additional support for our employees who need it most,” Wood said. “Many of these employees work directly with our patients each and every day.”

This improvement is similar to other programs offered at Memorial, Orange Park and Specialty which targets workers who qualify financially for programs, such as the Employee Health Assistance Fund and employer-paid 401(k) contributions.
